POSITION OBJECTIVE:                                                                                                           

 

Operates a hot melt machine to produce filter packs.  Makes adjustments to the machine to ensure quality production.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Sets up the machine for automatic operation.
  • Selects the correct media and loads rolls onto the machine.
  • Adds hot melt to the machine and adjusts hot melt settings.
  • Reads a Z-drawing and shop packet to determine filter requirements.
  • Makes modifications to CNC programs.
  • Uses hand tools such as wrenches and screwdrivers to change rollers.
  • Uses a measuring tape to determine the correct size of the finished filter pack.
  • Inspects filter packs for damages or defects.
  • Places completed packs in frames.
  • May assist in filter assembly.
  • Rejects filter packs that do not meet quality standards.
  • Reads and interprets order numbers to make sure the correct type of filter pack is made.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

  • This position is located in the US

TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Experience with using hand tools is required.
  • Measuring skills to 1/16 is required.
  • Be able to identify different types of media by comparing style numbers.
  • Basic mechanical skills to be able to remove and replace rollers.

 

KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE:

  •  6 months experience in a manufacturing environment preferred

EDUCATION REQUIREMENT:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred but not required

LICENSES OR CERTIFICATIONS:

  • License or certificates in any of the above mentioned trade skills are beneficial

SPECIAL SKILLS:.

 

  • Mathematical skills: able to add, subtract, multiply and divide fractions

  • Must be able to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, fumes and dust particles. 
  • Must be able to withstand both hot and cold atmosphere depending on weather conditions.
  • Safety glasses are required at all times to protect against dust and particles.
  • Protective clothing must be worn at all times to protect against injury which may include cut resistant gloves, sleeves, aprons and gowns.
  • Closed toe shoes and long pants are required. Sleeveless shirts are prohibited in the warehouse and production areas.

 

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Ability to carry and lift up to 50 pounds to mount paper rolls onto the machine.
  • Stands for long periods of time while operating the machine.
  • Walks almost continuously to transfer packs to the next station and to operate the machine.
  • Must have the visual ability to detect small holes in filter packs.
  • Safety precautions must be taken to avoid contact with hot glue and machine parts.
  • Care must be taken to avoid machine pinch points.
  • Protective clothing must be worn at all times to protect the filters.
  • May need to work a different shift as needed.
