Production Manager

 

The Production Manager is responsible for monitoring production floor activities, incoming work orders, raw materials inventory, production status, and product shipments to ensure timely, efficient and cost effective delivery of products to the customer.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES

  1. Oversee all activities on the production floor.
  2. Oversee production staff to assure safety, efficiency, housekeeping, and corporate policies are in force.
  3. Works closely with Production scheduler to assure prompt and efficient scheduling.
  4. As Lean Champion, Follows all 5S, Kaizen, Safety initiatives. Information Station updates.
  5. Coordinate all new product introductions into the manufacturing production schedule.
  6. Does Monthly safety and housekeeping inspection.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  1. Must be knowledgeable of the current status of any given work order.
  2. He or she shall also be knowledgeable of the status of each manufacturing work center and the shipping schedules.
  3. Closely coordinate with Corporate Customer Service and the divisional Traffic Department to insure successful fulfillment of company objectives.
  4. Must know the current raw material inventory status and provide timely communication with the Corporate Purchasing Department to prevent stock out conditions.
  5. Understand all Quality Control objectives.
  6. Able to understand basic Microsoft Office/ Excel spread sheets and reports.
  7. Controls WIP and raw material returns.
  8. Able to communicate individually or in groups for manufacturing related issues.

DECISIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Must be responsible to establish the production priorities of each manufacturing work center, to insure timely delivery of product to each customer.
  2. Monitor each of the Production Planner’s activities with regard to production schedules
  1. Must be responsible for supervising and monitoring the carton label printing process. He or she shall review all new carton labels for content and accuracy.
  2. Responsible for monitoring the Traffic Coordinator position.
  3. Has the authority to hire, counsel, terminate and direct the activities of direct reporting personnel.
  4. Must be a self starter, willing and able to make sound decisions and initiate action without counseling or direction.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  1. Must be able to sit or stand for long periods of time.
  2. Must be able to work at a computer for long periods of time.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  1. Must be able to work in a manufacturing and/or office environment.
  2. Must have interpersonal skills to communicate at all levels with the company and with the customer.

SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Requires a high school education – Bachelor’s Degree strongly preferred
  2. Must have a minimum of five (5) years experience in a production environment.
  3. Must be familiar with high volume production scheduling techniques and MRP.
  4. Must be computer literate in both personal computer and mainframe interface.
