PURPOSE OF POSITION: Operate, develop, implement and oversee staff training programs for company’s manufacturing equipment to improve employees’ knowledge and capability to achieve production goals.

 

JOB DESCRIPTION: This position is responsible to develop and implement a technical training program to teach employees how to more accurately and thoroughly perform the technical components of their job. This will be achieved with an on-going needs analysis and assessment to determine gaps between current conditions and desired conditions or wants. This position must have a clear understanding of job descriptions and how the jobs function on a manufacturing line and in a manufacturing environment. In addition, this position will help the Company’s competitive position by incorporating the principles of lean manufacturing into their daily operations. This position will develop a tiered guide to achieve upward movement for employees. This position has a direct reporting relationship with the plant’s Human Resources Manager.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and implement technical training program for new hire employees
  • utilizing a hands-on approach.
  • Prepare and create a tiered matrixed program to ensure employees’ training
  • provides opportunity to cross-level on other manufacturing lines.
  • Develop levels within a job title as an achievement tool for employee development.
  • Collaborate with supervisors/managers to identify employee who have a willingness and desire to increase their work knowledge.
  • Work with supervisors to ensure performance evaluations are conducted in a timely manner.
  • Work in a safe and environmentally responsible manner.
  • Review Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) and other documents, as required.
  • Understand production schedule to achieve production goals.
  • Actively participate and drive any event response activities.
  • Document training problems and work on rapid resolutions.
  • Utilize lean manufacturing concepts in lean concepts training, value stream mapping, rapid improvement projects (Kaizen) throughout the entire organization.
  • Report safety violations, to include near-hits, to the EHS Manager.
  • Report employee relations concerns to the HR Manager.

 

REQUIREMENTS:

  • BA/BS degree or higher in Business, Technology or appropriate discipline.
  • Five to seven years of manufacturing experience OR a combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills are acquired.
  • Demonstrated experience in using a systematic approach to problem solving and troubleshooting based on data and facts.
  • Proven expertise in planning/organizing, managing execution, checking results and ability to revise training programs and plans as needed.
  • Direct interaction in supporting stakeholders in training activities to ensure successful process turnaround/performance.
  • Fluent/Native Speaker/Bi-Lingual (English-Spanish/Spanish-English)
  • Outstanding communication skills.
  • Organizational and developmental training.
  • Teamwork/Collaboration.
  • Microsoft Office suite.

PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Must be able to work in a manufacturing environment of up to 500,000 square feet.
  • Ability to work around mechanical equipment.
  • Able to move equipment and/or materials weighing up to 50 pounds within the facility.
  • Able to routinely operate and inspect manufacturing equipment using hands.
  • Able to remain in a stationary position up to 100% of the time.
  • Ability to move about the building as necessary to access other employees, operational areas, and front office.
  • Must be able to withstand both hot and cold atmospheres depending on weather conditions, working without temperature control; may be for extended periods of time.
  • Able to work hours as needed to support production including evenings and/or weekends.
  • Capacity to work in loud noise environments.
  • Ability to work hours necessary to support production, including ability to stand on feet up to 12 hours or longer for first, second or weekend shift.
  • Must adhere to safety regulations of the Company to include the appropriate wear of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
