Role Purpose:

Installs, maintains, and repairs equipment and uses independent judgment to make decisions requiring the application of procedures using practical safety measures to specific work situations. 

 

Key Accountabilities:

1.    Repairs equipment or machinery in accordance with diagrams, sketches, operation manuals and technical background equipment such as engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines and equipment using hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring and testing instruments. 
2.    Observes mechanical devices in operation and listens to their sounds to locate causes of trouble. 
3.    Dismantle devices to gain access to and remove defective parts. 
4.    Inspects used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements, using rulers, calipers, and other measuring instruments.
5.    Installs special functional or structural parts such as guards as a safety mechanism.
6.    Start, test, lubricate equipment or devices to test and maximize their performance
7.    May set up and operate the drill press, grinder, and other metal working tools to make and repair parts.
8.    Perform electrical work and maintenance 
9.    Safely perform duties in a responsible manner in accordance with company policy including maintaining general work area cleanliness.
 

Position Requirements:

  1. High school diploma or GED equivalent. 
  2. Four years of experience assisting skilled trades workers in the mechanical or electrical
    trades, including two years equivalent to a Maintenance Mechanic.
  3. Completion of a recognized program in vocational training for the mechanical or electrical trades may be substituted for two years of experience assisting skilled trades workers.
  4. Must be able to understand written and verbal instructions along with basic math skills.  Use commons tools, measuring instruments, read electronic and mechanical gauges, and machine setup devices.
  5. Three years of experience in building maintenance to include at least two of the following building trades: electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, and/or heating, ventilation, & air conditioning; or an equivalent combination of education and certifications.
